Time tracking for a practice with twelve employees
At twelve employees MetronHR costs 60 euros a month on the Team plan and 120 euros on Professional. This size gets expensive where billing is per site or a base fee sits on top of everything: both hit small businesses harder than large ones.

Why twelve employees is a question of its own
Between five and twenty people is the size at which doing it by hand becomes just too expensive and enterprise software is clearly too big. The month-end close already costs one to three hours, but nobody has an HR department to see an implementation project through.
At the same time pricing models work differently here than in providers' sample calculations. A base fee of 99 euros barely matters spread over a hundred people, but very much over twelve: that is 8.25 euros per person before the first licence is counted.

Third-party figures from the providers' pricing pages, retrieved on 2 and 3 September 2026. "From" prices are entry prices: where modules, site fees or minimum purchases come on top, that is stated in the third column. The evidenced individual assessment per provider is on the comparison pages.
What also counts in a practice
The price rarely decides on its own. In doctors', dental and veterinary practices three further points come in that play no role at an agency.
- There is a computer at reception, but not in the treatment room. Anyone clocking there needs a terminal or an app.
- Apprentices under 18 fall under the Youth Employment Protection Act, with tighter limits than the Working Hours Act. Software that only checks against the ArbZG misses that.
- Consultations, the laboratory and reception are different activities with different qualifications. A pure shift plan does not model that.
What is not needed at this size
Guided implementation, mandatory training and a paid setup day. For twelve people the setup is an afternoon: create the employees, assign the working time model, choose the recording route.
Nor is a minimum term needed. Anyone introducing a system for the first time knows more after four weeks than after four quotes, and a mistake should then cost nothing.

Frequently asked questions
What we get asked about this most often.
At MetronHR 60 euros a month on the Team plan (time recording, absences, overtime) and 120 euros on the Professional plan (additionally shift and deployment planning, the personnel file, the change history of time entries). No setup fee, no minimum term, adjustable monthly.
If the shifts are not planned but only recorded: yes. As soon as consultations, the laboratory and reception are staffed in advance with qualifications to observe, the deployment planning from the Professional plan is needed.
With a card at the terminal, an Android device on the wall. It needs no private phone and no biometric data. Anyone at a computer clocks in in the browser, anyone on the road in the app. The three routes can be mixed within the same business.
The number of licences can be adjusted up and down monthly. Billing is per person, not per site and not by a tier bought in advance.
As a monthly Excel overview per person with target, actual, overtime, night, Sunday and public holiday hours as well as days of leave and sickness, optionally as CSV as well. The premium categories are reported separately under section 3b EStG, and the month is locked before the file is created.
