Rota software for shift operations of 5 to 100 people
Shifts by drag and drop, patterns for A and B weeks, conflict checking while you plan. Billed per person and not per site, with time tracking included.
- Priced per person, whatever the number of sites
- Licence numbers up and down every month, for businesses with a season
- Conflicts checked against rest periods, absences and overlaps
Where a rota comes apart in practice
Not in building the plan, but in what comes after it: the sick note on Sunday evening, the rest period that gets too short between a late and an early shift, and the holiday nobody noticed while planning. Rota software earns its name only once it catches those three cases before the plan goes up on the wall.
That applies to hospitality and hotels with split shifts, to care with qualification requirements, to retail with opening hours across six days, and to security services with sites and night shifts. Anyone dividing a day into activities instead, in a practice or a pharmacy for example, is looking for duty planning software.
What rota planning in MetronHR can do
Included in the Professional plan, with no module surcharge.
Planning
Shifts by drag and drop
The plan comes about in minutes instead of hours.
Shifts are dragged, copied and moved. The previous week can be taken as a starting point instead of filling every cell again.
Pattern
Shift patterns and A/B weeks
Create alternating weeks once, then apply them.
The pattern is laid over the period and adjusted by hand where it differs. Anyone planning on a two-week rhythm does not rebuild every week.
Conflicts
Conflicts checked while you plan
Overlaps, absences and rest periods show up at once.
It checks people scheduled twice, holiday already approved, the eleven hours of rest and the daily and weekly maximum.
Protective rules
JArbSchG and MuSchG checked along with it
Tighter limits apply to apprentices under 18 and to pregnant employees.
The planning knows them and warns, instead of leaving them to the shift lead. It warns; it does not block a lawful plan.
Pools
Staff pools and areas
Who comes into question for a shift is settled.
Pools group people by qualification or area. The plan suggests from them, and a cover request goes to the same circle.
Absence
A cover request instead of a phone chain
The gap goes to the group, not to the manager.
Whoever takes it on says so in the app, and the plan updates for everyone. The shift lead stops working through the phone list.
Publish
Publishing and notifying
The plan is where the team is already looking.
An app for iOS and Android, a printout for the noticeboard, a calendar feed for Outlook and Google. Changes after publication are notified.
Reconciliation
Plan against recorded time
The gap is in the system, not in two programs.
People clock in through the app, in the browser or at the terminal with an NFC card. The month end comes out of planned and recorded time without any typing up.
Priced per person, not per site
Several providers in this market bill per site. For a business with several small branches that is expensive, and for one large business under one roof it is cheap. Three examples on the Professional plan:
| Operation | MetronHR a month | What stands out about it |
|---|---|---|
| 10 people, one site | 100 € | no base fee, no minimum term |
| 20 people, one site | 200 € | the same scope, no tiering |
| 30 people, three sites | 300 € | the number of sites makes no difference to the price |
10 people, one site
- MetronHR a month
- 100 €
- What stands out about it
- no base fee, no minimum term
20 people, one site
- MetronHR a month
- 200 €
- What stands out about it
- the same scope, no tiering
30 people, three sites
- MetronHR a month
- 300 €
- What stands out about it
- the number of sites makes no difference to the price
Prices are on /preise, cancellable monthly, with no setup fee. The number of licences can be adjusted up and down every month, limited only by the seats in use.
How other providers in the rota market bill is set out, with source and retrieval date, on the comparison pages, among them Papershift, Planday, Ordio, Shiftbase, Planerio and gastromatic.
Frequent questions about rota software
What shift operations ask most often before choosing.
Shift planning belongs to the Professional plan, so 10 € per person a month. 20 people come to 200 € a month. Time tracking, absences and the overtime account are included. No minimum term, no setup fee, no price per site.
Per person. That is the most important difference from several providers in this market: billing per site becomes expensive for a business with three small branches and cheap for one large business under a single roof. With MetronHR you pay for the people in the system, however many places they work at.
Yes, monthly and by yourself, up and down. The floor is the number of seats in use. For hospitality, hotels and retail that means more in summer and fewer in winter, with no conversation and no contract change.
Yes, while you plan. It checks overlaps, absences already approved, the eleven hours of rest between two shifts and the daily and weekly maximum. For apprentices under 18 the tighter limits of the Young Persons Employment Act apply as well, and for pregnant and breastfeeding employees those of the Maternity Protection Act.
Through shift patterns with A and B weeks. The pattern is created once and then laid over the period, instead of building every week anew. You enter the deviations by hand afterwards, and the pattern stays.
The request goes out as a cover request to the pool with the right qualification, not to the shift lead's desk. Whoever takes it on appears in the plan, and the change is visible to everyone.
Yes, in the app for iOS and Android, plus a printout for the noticeboard and a calendar feed for Outlook or Google Calendar. Everyone can save their own monthly plan as a PDF.
No. Planned and actually recorded time live in the same system, and people clock in through the app, in the browser or with a card at the terminal. The gap between plan and reality therefore shows up by itself, and the month end comes from a single source.
