When Excel reaches its limits

Someone back at reception early after a late duty does not stand out in the plan.

MetronHR checks rest and maximum hours while you assign the shift, in the Professional plan. Shifts past midnight land on the right day, and people clock in at the terminal or in the app.

How much rest is needed between a late and an early duty in a hotel?

In principle eleven hours (section 5(1) ArbZG). In accommodation businesses it may drop to ten hours if every shortening is compensated within a calendar month or four weeks by at least twelve hours of rest (section 5(2) ArbZG). Late until 11 pm and early from 6:30 am leaves only seven and a half hours.

Is the night audit night work?

Yes, if more than two hours fall into the night time from 11 pm to 6 am (section 2(3) and (4) ArbZG). Anyone working like this regularly is entitled to occupational health checks and to a premium or days off (section 6 ArbZG).

Does a special recording duty apply in hotels?

Yes. The accommodation trade is listed in section 2a SchwarzArbG. The start, end and duration of daily working time of all employees have to be recorded by the end of the seventh calendar day and kept for two years (section 17 MiLoG).
